Enjoyed valentine s day dinner here and it did not disappoint. living nearby we opted to walk, so i can t say much from personal experience about parking but depending on the day and time there is street parking available nearby. the bar area where we checked in for our reservations had a moody atmosphere with dim lighting and the second floor where we sat for dining had slightly brighter lighting. the booth seating was comfortable and i enjoyed the overall sophisticated yet minimalist decor choices. our waiter was very attentive and kind throughout our dining experience. every member of the staff we passed walking out even thanked us for dining with them. the food was delicious and beautifully plated. my favorites were the black truffle parmesan fries, pear-fection cocktail, and mouthwatering chocolate creme strawberry. be prepared to pay the price for such a high quality dining experience. i highly recommend trying at least once!

This restaurant is amazing. beautifully decorated, amazing food, and a great wait staff. i went here for a meal with fellow co-workers and the entire experience was amazing. the cheesy bread was to die for, the calamari was top notch, the french onion soup was delicious, and all the sides were perfect, especially, believe it or not, the carrots. i ordered the bone in ribeye, which was expensive but well worth every penny. if im going to spend $90 on a steak, it better be the best steak ive ever had and it absolutely was. i will forever compare any steak ive ever had to this one. if you are in san francisco, you need splurge and to go to those restaurant. you will not be disappointed.

Gozu is a tasting experience developed by chef marc zimmerman. gozu is deeply focused on elevating the wagyu breed while displaying its versatility and nuance through the preparation of the animal in its entirety.

    One review mentioned:

The winter s journey the wifey and i had a phenomenal time celebrating our anniversary with gozu. i want to take a moment to thank the staff who went out of their way to not just provide us with a beautiful exploration of the versatility and nuance of a5 wagyu, but that they sincerely ensured we were personally cared for and our anniversary became a special memory to be cherished. and a thank you to: chef zimmerman @chef_zimmerman pastry chef lieuw @onebakersjourney as you walk into gozu, there is a moment of excitement rounding the first corner and seeing the dining area. there is a beautiful bar surrounding an intimate kitchen where the chefs are busy at work – centered around the heart of the room, a beautiful flame with sizzling food above it, filling the room with a savory aroma as you are enticed to your seat. as we are seated, the staff quickly helped us become comfortable, abigail offered my wife a purse hook, and made sure we had what we needed to be settled for the evening. the room is mostly decorated in dark decor allowing your focus to remain on the chefs thoughtfully creating. we chat about our upcoming meal, asking about the fish we are excited to see dry-aging. we preordered a whiskey tasting, and my wife ordered a glass of sake to begin our evening. we also did opt to enjoy the offered additional tasting of wagyu toast +$40/p. (more on that later, but tldr; definitely worth it. one of my favorite tastes of the night). before each course i m given a whiskey pairing, along with a beautifully detailed history of each whiskey by d; not simply the origin and flavor but the passion behind the craft that has gone into every sip. these shared moments really bring my thoughts into the nature of japan as i enjoy imagining the views from the mars distillery high up in the snow-capped japanese alps. this gentle vision filled me with snowfall and images of a glacial river flowing through, which set the scene as i taste each dish. while given a journey through several pairings, the mars label stood out for me – as that snow-filled visage was the perfect backdrop to the warm fire and depth of flavors in each bite. particularly the wintery final dessert where i swore i heard the wind of the mountains swirl past me as i took my last. few. bites. the first course opens with a beautiful canape trio. we watch as the chef puts the details of each flavor together with care. we are thrilled to taste the intricate creations as they fill us with flavor, the delicate crisp juxtaposed against the deep burst from the roe allows our tastebuds to focus in on the complexity we can expect from each new creation. my wife s favorite course (and a very close second for myself) was the kaluga caviar. the oyster was swimming in a beautiful velvety cream sauce that coated the inside of your mouth, while the black caviar rested atop, enhancing the flavor with an earthy taste as the yang to the oyster s yin. while every dish was extraordinary, including the wagyu teishoku, a wonderful excursion of flavors paired with a wagyu skewer; my personal favorite was the milk bread toast topped with uni and wagyu. the meat held a nostalgic taste to my charleston southern roots. a deep savory flavor profile that melted the frost from my mind with a roaring flame. it demanded my attention while the sweetness of the bread gave feather to the ferocity. we both order tea as we recover our senses. enjoying a green and a red tea that we share. the tea warms us like a soft blanket, snuggling us in as we find each others warm hands. the final course, the baked alaska, is the perfect ending to the winter s journey. a delicate dessert nestled at the edge of a deep caramel pool. thoughtful lighting above interacting with beautiful lines across the mirrored sauce, allowing the function of warm lighting to create beautiful form on our dish. pure dazzling art, creating a union reminiscent of frank loyd wright and his clerestory windows. the perfection of the dessert fills your final goodbyes with an enveloping embrace.

Excellent steakhouse in a chic, modern, stylish and fun venue. the atmosphere is everything and vibe is great. the colorful lights really add to the ambience. the food is second to none, so you will have to try it. the service is great but they are still not thinking in their customers shoe and sometimes recommend lots of stuff that are good, but not really necessary. and they will charge for all those recommendations. they are not very fast. so if you are in a rush, this cool place might not be right for the occasion. and the do have a happy hour menu which offers a pretty good deal.

The steak and ravioli tastes were excellent and hardly can say there would no restaurant who can deliver the actual flavor and texture of steak with these softness, tender and well-cooked more than here. here is the best restaurant that ive ever tried in my life. extremely recommend to others!

I wish i could ve taken better pictures, but i really enjoy this brazilian steakhouse. i ve been here twice, and both times i ve been satisfied with the food. the experience is worth the $70 for such high quality meats! the side dishes are also good, but try not to go to over board since you re mostly paying for the fancy meats. i had to learn that the hard way the first time. definitely a yummy and filling dinner!

we offer a full bar featuring artisanal cocktails, piscos, tequilas, & a wine list primarily focused on varietals from portugal, spain, chile, and argentina including sherry and port. stellar selection of european and south american beers, too.

Definitely need a reservation for weekends. most of the dishes are good, but only a few are exceptional. main hall was quite noisy and lively, and while the lighting is low and decor is good and place is pretty clean, it could probably be a bit noisy to some. tables don t have the greatest privacy at least on the first floor where we sat. there s no free bread for sharing, only those that come with certain appetizer dishes. their bread is a bit dry too. highly recommend: beef lengua. it came as a big chunk of beef tongue, not sliced or anything. it was the right amount of tenderness and flakiness , and had none of the tongue smell when treated not correctly. the vegetables that are paired with it are super fresh and cooked to the right amount. filet mignon: not the best out there that i ve had but it s pretty good. tastes good but won t order again for the price point: bone marrow (bone was huge, but there was only too little marrow) new york steak: ours came a little too fat at the ends. it s just what a steak is supposed to taste like, nothing unique here. i will say i like the grill. tastes okay and can find elsewhere: octopus, shrimps, deserts. the octopus is cooked really nicely but the portion is small. the shrimps are just shrimps and don t really justify almost $20 for five shrimps. desserts are classic ones that you can find elsewhere. they re not too sweet so it was easy to eat them after a full meal, but they re not unique. yuca fries (i just can t justify the price for like six pieces of fries that taste bland). overall we spent about $250 for 6 people without coming out too full. it s fairly reasonable and while some dishes are not as good as expected, others make my eyes light up. so it really just depends on what you get.

I recently dined at an excellent steakhouse with great value for money. the ambiance was cozy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. the star of the show was the steak perfectly cooked to my liking, juicy, and bursting with flavor. the menu offered a variety of cuts at reasonable prices, making it a fantastic choice for steak enthusiasts on a budget. the sides were equally impressive, complementing the main course beautifully. overall, a delightful experience that combines quality, affordability, and a welcoming atmosphere. highly recommended for a satisfying steak night!

May very well be the future of steak houses, unbelievable. how does this place also have some of the best scallops i ve ever tasted? perfect is the word when describing the slabs of meat coming from this kitchen. the porterhouse and mignon were perfect. the porterhouse came with a bacon jam which was an excellent combination with the steak. now let s talk scallops. the scallops were incredibly delicious, amazingly prepared, a nice size and swimming in a delectable butter sauce. the amount of amuse bouchee and palate cleansers is michelin star worthy. seriously how does this place not carry a star? great food, fantastic service, amazing ambiance, what else is left? an incredible dinning experience and definitely worth the price. dos steaks up.

Went here with my girlfriend for my birthday. the staff was extremely attentive and nice. the atmosphere of the bar downstairs was not bad but the music was a bit too loud in my opinion. the food was amazing and i think it was reasonably priced. only thing i have to say is that the nigiri was made a bit sloppy on some pieces with the ice being too lightly packed. but overall the taste was amazing and nothing else to complain about.

Where to begin? i came to shodai twice already and i purposely wanted to save my review till now so i can compare both experiences. my second time coming to shodai and they just never stop the magic but let s begin with my previous experience. the last time here was 2 years ago, they were still in soft opening stage but everything was great! high-quality food, great service, and awesome sake selection but since they were still in the soft opening stage there were still things they were exploring and improving. i remember they didn t have enough chefs at the moment also the food portion was not as fulfilling. but overall i still give it a 4.5 star with all the barriers they were trying to get through as a newly opened restaurant during covid! they deserve all the props! this time around i wanted to celebrate with my husband and bridesmaids before my wedding. my bridesmaids are visiting from japan and new york and everyone had doubts about the current san francisco, i thought i must pay another visit and introduce at least one gem that s located in sf and worth visiting! shodai uses high-quality ingredients in all their dishes. you can tell all the chefs there are passionate about what they do and with professional training, the food delivery was above and beyond. we went with the prix fixe menu but they also offer a la carte menu during weekdays. you will have a dedicated chef who is well-trained to professionally serve you the whole time. you are not only eating high-quality meats, seafood, veggies, and even their rice had me ask for refills. at the same time, each dish appears like an art piece. shodai is aiming for high achievements, they work hard to give their guests a michelin-graded ambiance that adds special touches to their social media posts, we are in a generation where cell phone eats first so with the award-winning quality of foods and environment you won t regret your experience! my bridesmaid who came from japan couldn t stop complimenting how great it is to eat authentic high-quality japanese yakiniku here in sf and it s an experience she ll never forget. i moved to new york 3 years ago and there are so many michelin grades restaurants and lots of great japanese yakiniku restaurants and you can imagine the competition is brutal but i couldn t stop asking the head chef andy from shodai to open up a franchise in nyc otherwise i don t mind flying back to sf just for shodai! without a doubt, shodai successfully became my top 3 favorite restaurant here in the us without having to visit japan or taiwan! my other family and friends who came from my recommendation walked out drunk and with endless smiles on their faces. holiday s coming, shodai is the perfect place to celebrate and enjoy the awesomeness with your loved ones! remember to make a reservation asap because they do run out of bookings!

Jake’s steaks was started by a philly native who has a goal to provide the best-tasting cheesesteaks in or out of philadelphia. it is a good sign when half the people at jake’s steaks joint are from philly. for the unenlightened, a cheesesteak consists of a heap of shredded beef and onion, tossed on a griddle, piled onto a uniquely chewy but tender amoroso roll imported from philadelphia, and topped with cheese whiz, which melts into the sandwich.
