I cant say enough positive things about this place. i grew up in portland, oregon, and had never visited this restaurant until now. dont judge a book by its cover because its unassuming from its exterior, and then you enter into a beautiful old-school steak house dining room. we had the most friendly, attentive waitress, and she was a saint to endure our large group. the food was amazing. i had a shrimp salad, prime rib dinner, a cocktail, and dessert for just under $65. you can beat that price for the quality and excellent dining experience. parking: parking is available on a site.

My husband and i went for the first time last night and thoroughly enjoyed our experience! cody was our server and was helpful and attentive. we had 2 appetizers and each had a salad, a steak, with different crusts, brussel sprouts and some potatoes. i also had a lobster with mine and it was so fresh! we also had a couple beverages that were tasty and the wine selection is robust. everything was delicious and we will absolutely be back. highly recommend! parking: once you locate the parking garage its not too difficult but its downtown and can be stressful in my experience.

Urban Farmer Portland, 525 SW Morrison St, Portland, OR 97204

In a world of white tablecloths and subtle snobbery, we’re doing something rare: being real. we’re less steak and more house. our house – and yours. urban farmer was founded on the idea that combining responsibly sourced food, high-quality ingredients and down-to-earth values would create a new kind of steakhouse, where people could create memories and communities could thrive.

    One review mentioned:

Quite enjoyable food. a great wine list. hard working wait staff. a few suggestions. please inform your waiters on the cuts of beef you are serving. also if you offer a cheese plate (ignoring that it should be after the mains and not an appetizer) your staff should know or have an easy paper to describe the cheeses being offered. more than just a blue and a cheddar. again the staff worked hard and we love them but if you are trying to be a certain level steakhouse and restaurant you should do this. we loved our meal and experience.

Very classy, upscale restaurant 30 floors up! the food was phenomenal and the service after we got seated at our table was excellent. four stars for service as we waited in the bar for our table to be ready and our server was not attentive nor did she know what to offer when asked about a fruity vodka cocktail as their drink menu was very selective.

The Steakhouse at 9900, 9900 SW Canyon Rd, Portland, OR 97225

After a complete renovation of what some may remember as nendel’s, the steakhouse at 9900 maintains an old school feel with a flavor of the now. while the opihi group wanted to bring a steakhouse to the west side of portland, executive chef jamie mcdonald put his unique spin on the menu by including sides with all of his entrees instead of your typical steakhouse a-la-cart option, which allows him to create exceptional value throughout the menu. if you aren’t a steak lover, don’t worry as chef jamie has created some truly unique and special options that will keep you coming back as well.

in addition to the steakhouse, the 9900 is also the home of lou’s bar and the chamber.

    One review mentioned:

Ill start off with just 2 words…hidden gem! fist off the restaurant itself is a hidden gem. the cuisine here is fabulous and the ambiance and decor were nice. secondly, the entrance is hidden…. hidden inside the lobby of the best western its attached to, so it took us a minute to find the entrance. the staff is very accommodating, tentative and took care of our every need. we started off with the beat salad which was quite tasty, the beats and goat cheese along with the arugula played very well together. i would have preferred a little more acid in the dressing but i am an acid freak and a lot of people dont like that as much as i do. my wife ordered the filet mignon with roasted fingerlings and asparagus. the filet was cooked perfectly. nice crust on the outside and tender juicy medium on the inside. the asparagus was cooked great and had a nice snap to them. i had the shrimp and zucchini risotto which was very well prepared. the rice was perfectly cooked with the right amount of cheese and the shrimp were plump and juicy with a slight char on the outside. overall a well balanced dish. we finished off the night with a new desert that wasnt on the menu. it was a lemon custard with a layer of crumbled gram cracker and topped with an unsweetened whipped cream which perfectly balanced out the dish. this is a restaurant that i see myself frequenting often!

After realizing most of my fancy dinner experiences are for work, i took my family here tonight for dinner. i cannot say enough good things about the experience. staff was amazing – waitress jessica was amazing with recommendations and overall service. brian came out from the kitchen with our steaks to make sure they were perfect (they were), and everyone we encountered there was friendly, professional and enjoyable to be around. compliments to the bartender as well as the house cocktails were well-crafted and several steps above what you often get even at nice restaurants. use the valet parking, fast before you arrive to make room for amazing food, and fall in love with an 80 year-old portland landmark! cant wait to come back. parking: just use the valet, that is the move.

Higgins offers a dining experience defined by its attentive staff, reminiscent decor, and an intriguing view of the kitchen from your seat. the staffs patience stands out, creating a welcoming atmosphere that adds to the overall comfort of the restaurant. from the moment you step in, theres a sense of hospitality that sets the tone for an enjoyable meal. more importantly, when we got the hot tea, im more accustomed to a stronger flavor, but being able to taste a hint was still ok. the food and the ambience was important. but my friend decided to bring it up to the staff. so sorry! tea was still good though. the decor is charmingly familiar, evoking the warmth of grandmas house. its a subtle touch that contributes to the restaurants cozy ambiance. the design choices create an inviting space, making it feel like more than just a place to dine its an extension of comfort and nostalgia. a unique feature is the kitchen window, providing a captivating view of the culinary dance happening behind the scenes. watching the cooking staff at work adds an extra layer of appreciation for the artistry involved in crafting each dish. its a transparent connection between the preparation and the dining experience, enhancing the overall enjoyment. in essence, higgins offers more than just a meal; it provides an environment where the staffs patience, familiar decor, and a kitchen view seamlessly come together to create a dining experience that feels like a visit to a cherished family gathering.

Stopped by grants for the first time after driving past it a bunch of times on the way to costco. we both got the american philly which were amazing! great flavor with lots of gooey melted american cheese! we also got cheese fries and rosemary garlic fries. we ordered a small of each and the employee who helped us laughed and said we would be swimming in fries. she was not wrong lol. the small fry is huge and easily shareable with two people! definitely will be back again to try the other cheesesteak options!

Very chill place. staff are crazy friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and bright, and the food and drinks are pretty killer. my friend and i came for happy hour (3-5). this honestly might be the best happy hour menu i ve ever seen. i ordered fries and wings. 4 wings on a heap of coleslaw for only $5? yes please! the space is a little small, which means it can get loud. it s decently busy during happy hour. but it s all worth it. definitely a new spot to hit after work! parking: parking is a little weird. the mcdonald s parking lot is huge and empty, but it obviously says not to park through.

Southpark seafood is a chic northwest eatery featuring sustainable seafood and farm-fresh ingredients. as a proud partner of the monterey bay aquarium’s seafood watch(r) program, southpark seafood only serves seafood that has been fished or farmed in ways that minimize their environmental impact. for 22 years, this definitive portland restaurant has been a local favorite. with the city’s largest selection of oysters and a menu that changes every single day, we dare you to find a better place for a dozen on the half shell.

    One review mentioned:

If you want a perfect date, or to take your out of town relatives to an upscale seafood, oyster, and top-notch restaurant look no further than southpark seafood. all appetizers are cheap, table portions, and reasonably priced. i wish i would have got the clams, but i order them every other time. i can also speak on the steak. it is a fantastic cut of meat. ironically i typically punish myself with the brussle sprouts, but this was my favorite vegetable dish all year long. a must try! thank you again south park seafood p.s. multiple na beers available kid-friendliness: they were the sweetest to my daughter

Forget fancy french names canard is where the duck gets down! this place is seriously off the hook. think awesome food, killer cocktails, and a vibe thats cool without trying too hard. perfect for a crew hang or a low-key date night with someone who digs good eats. the dishes here are straight-up flavor bombs! foie gras dumplings with french onion broth? next level. sablefish queso dip with homemade salt & vinegar chips? forget about it i could live on that stuff! and yeah, the steamburgers are old-school deliciousness, just like you expect them to be. honestly, theres not a dud on the menu. lets talk drinks their cocktails are the real deal. creative, perfectly mixed, and they wont give you a sugar coma. plus, the staff is awesome friendly, chill, and they know their stuff. bottom line: if you havent hit up canard, youre seriously missing out! do yourself a favor grab your crew or husband (thanks for a new memory, babe!! ) and snag a table at the counter on the line, and get ready for a damn good time. other noteables: duck stack, steak frittes, scallpos.

This place has been around since 1892 for a reason. we had an old-school awesome lunch on a quiet monday with paul the bartender. he was perfect – guiding us through the menu, history, and neighborhood. we started with a half-dozen oysters that were so fresh and icy cold, followed by perfectly crispy and moist crab and shrimp cakes (meaty and not just breadcrumbs). the caesar and cup of clam chowder were good. and, then we had more oysters for dessert lol. next time, and there will be a next time, we ll have to try the famous key lime pie. if you get a chance, don t pass up jake s and walking around the pearl district!
